Fine Arts Series Concert 2021
A Celebration of Organ Music by Black Composers
Performed by Benji Stegner

“Sing to the Lord a new song, for God has done marvelous things.” Psalm 98:1

Music soothes, excites, challenges and unites us in ways in which words alone cannot. Through our hymns and responses, the singing of our voices, and the sounds of our instruments, music enables us to touch upon the deepest mysteries of God and unite us in worship.

For more information on how to join or support the music program at FPC, please contact Benji Stegner, Organist-Choir Director:

The Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is the primary adult choral ensemble, offering music each week at the 11am service. With a long-standing reputation for excellence, the choir contributes music and assists in leading the traditional worship service year round. In addition to a variety of sacred anthems which represent all the eras of the western church’s musical heritage, the Chancel Choir also regularly presents sacred masterworks and extended works. No audition is required, but a pleasant singing voice and some previous choral experience are desirable. A commitment to regular attendance at weekly rehearsals is expected. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays from 7-8:30pm in the Choir Room. The choir does not rehearse during the month of July.

Morning Light Praise Band

The Morning Light Band is an ensemble of musicians who lead worship each Sunday at 9am under the direction of worship leader Sophie Tolar. A wide range of instruments, including keyboard, drums, guitars, harmonica and more, produce an upbeat, contemporary sound to compliment Morning Light worship singers.

Children’s Music

The WOW Children’s Music (Pre-K through 5th Grade), meets each Wednesday from 6:20-7:10pm in the Choir Room. There’s more to WOW Music than just singing—the kids make music with Orff instruments, drums, and hand chimes. It’s fun to learn about God through music! This ensemble occasionally offers music in worship and presents special programs. WOW Children’s Music is directed by Hope Testement and assisted by Denise Nylander, Jan Reeves, and others.

The Primetime Singers

The Primetime Singers is an ensemble comprised of retired or senior adults with a heart for singing. They meet each Wednesday morning from 10:45-11:30am, mid-August through May. This group occasionally joins the Chancel Choir to sing in Sunday morning worship.5Childrens Choir09

Handbell Choir

The Chancel Ringers, our five-octave adult bell choir, play regularly for worship services and special community performances. Hope Testement directs the group, which is open to adults with music reading ability. The Chancel Ringers rehearse Sunday mornings at 9:00am in Room W102.
